Career Explorations
A half-credit career course your student can finish, and you can put on a transcript.
What are your plans after high school?
If you have a teenager in your home, this question is already in the air at every family gathering and church function.
Most of us answer with a list of colleges they're considering. That leaves the student no clearer on who they are and no closer to knowing what they want out of their life. They still need help knowing what they're good at, what they care about, and what kind of days they want. That's what this course gives them, and it gives you a half-credit elective for the transcript while they're at it.
How the course works
A 0.5-credit semester elective, 60 to 75 hours, built for homeschool students 14 and up. Five chapters that move from self-understanding to career research to talking with people who do the work, ending with a written plan.
Your student works through the lessons and assignments online. The course does the teaching. You get to be the coach and the sounding board.
What's included
20+ lessons your student works through at their own pace
Printable worksheets in every chapter
The Design Snapshot, a one-page summary of your student's design they'll use to test every opportunity that comes along
A printed Parent Packet: what to say, what to leave alone, and how to have the conversations that bring you closer and get your student unstuck
Transcript description, hour breakdown, hours log, evaluation guide, and a certificate of completion
Who it's for
Families who want their student to know why they're aiming where they're aiming, not just where. This isn't a course that tells your student what to do with their life. But it can give them language for their design, starting with strengths, interests, and values. With that clarity in hand, they'll have a process for aiming their next steps. It's a process they'll use again at 22 and at 35.
Know your design, design your next steps.
I've been walking students and families through this work since 2015, and this course hands your family the process to run yourselves. It works whether your student is headed toward college, a trade, the military, or something they haven't named yet. No assessment, purchase, or consultation is required beyond the course itself.

A few questions I get
Does my student need to work with you? No. I built this so it stands on its own. If you decide you want the assessment-led version, that's the full Career Direct assessment and consultation at $300, minus whatever you paid for the course. The credit is good for a year from your purchase date.
How do I count the hours? The template breaks down where every hour goes. You log them as you go and the course gives you the transcript language.
What if my student hates writing? Most of the work is circling, listing, and talking. There's one written piece at the end.
Can we stretch it to a full-credit course? Yes, there's a note in the template on how.
